Read MoreSubstitute Teacher Service, STS, is proud to announce the implementation of the STS/IU-13 Guest Teacher Program. This program allows those who have a 4 year degree to take an online training program that would prepare them for teaching in the classroom as a day to day substitute teacher. Candidates will be issued an emergency certificate to work in the district(s) of their choice. The emergency certificate can be renewed every school year.
*Attention Foreign-educated Guest Teacher Applicants:
The Pennsylvania Public School Code requires that a teacher of a non-foreign language subject, including a Guest Teacher working under a day-to-day emergency permit, must either:
• Be a U.S. citizen,
• Hold a valid permanent resident immigrant visa (green card), or
• Have another valid Employment Authorization Document (EAD) indicating legal authorization to work in the United States.
If you do not meet one of the above requirements, you are ineligible for a permit through the Guest Teacher Program.
In addition, an eligible foreign-educated Guest Teacher participant must have a Foreign Evaluation Report completed through a PDE-approved agency to verify that their foreign transcript credentials are equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree or higher.
